2013 Hitchin Beer & Cider Festival Report

Hitchin Hedgehog pump clip artIt was with some trepidation that we opened the doors of the 2013 Hitchin Beer & Cider Festival. A change to a new venue outside the town centre and shifted to three months later in the year than usual – would anybody show up? We need not have feared!

  • Whittlesea Straw Bear Festival

    Starts: 12:00 am

    Ends: 12:00 am, 11th January, 2015

    Location: Whittlesea, then Ely

    Description: Sat 10th Jan Branch trip to the Whittlesea Straw Bear Festival 2015 and then GBG pubs* in Ely, Cambridgeshire.

    Trains as follows: Knebworth 0839, change at Hitchin or Stevenage, Stevenage 0842, Hitchin 0852. Change at Peterborough to catch the 0950 and arrive at Whittlesea at 0958. This gives us plenty of time to get to the town for the parade. Leave Whittlesea around 1600 and go to Ely to visit the GBG Pubs. Leave Ely around 2000*, arriving Hitchin around 2100.

    * Ely crawl/itinerary: Liberty Belle, Town House, Prince Albert (then a supermarket run before heading to the station) - the order may change on the day depending on how the party feels

  • Minibus trip

    Ends: 11:30 pm, 17th January, 2015

    Location: Western edge of North Herts

    Description: The second of our special GBG longlist minibus trips is this Saturday the 17th and there are still places available if you want to come. Visiting:

    - Bucks Head, Little Wymondley
    - Plough, Ley Green
    - Lilley Arms, Lilley
    - Plume of Feathers, Ickleford
    - Victoria, Hitchin
