James arrived in late July after taking over from Tony & Gill Smith who have now retired from the trade.

James has aleady made his mark by reducing the price of the real ale – a refreshing move in this day and age! He tells us that he wants to increase the turnover of real ale. Good news!

Finally, James tells us that he’s holding a beer festival from the 10th to 13th September.

There will be an marquee, as well as the usual bar. They are intending to have 9 cask ales and 2 real ciders. Charles Wells are alowing them to select beers from outside the normal list.

When it did close we first thought it was gone for good but it is pleasing to see a local businessman purchase and completely refurbish it.

It is a bright and airy pub with a new conservatory and full disabled access. Local real ale is stocked and opening night saw Buntingford’s Golden Plover & Polar Star on offer.
