About Us

North Hertfordshire CAMRA is a branch of the national CAMRA organisation and consists of all members who live in the branch area. If you are a CAMRA member who lives in or around Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth, Baldock or Royston (to follow the railway line!) or near the A10 from Royston to some way south of Buntingford, then you are a probably part of our branch. To see a map, follow this link to the Hertfordshire CAMRA Branches Pub Database, select “North Hertfordshire” as the branch and “Display on map” then click “Submit” at the bottom of the page.

North Herts CAMRA are a mixture of male and female, young and not-so-young, fat and (relatively) thin, with and without hair (facial and otherwise)… all sharing a love of good cask-conditioned beer.

Come join us!

There are over 600 of us at the last count, but unfortunately we rarely see more than a few of you.  Please come along to our pub rambles & minibus trips to visit pubs you might not otherwise try. Volunteer at our festivals (it’s great fun being behind the bar, and you get a bit of a discount on the beer!) and, if you’re game, drop in to our branch meetings to see how the branch is run and have the opportunity to voice your own concerns about real ale in North Hertfordshire.

Just wondered what the beer of the festival was for 2014

Hello Liz, the beer of the festival was the Kiwi from Brodies, with Mokko Milk Stout from Summer Wine as the runner-up.

We’re trying to arrange a trip to Brodies for a presentation, probably not until November.

    Location: The Orange Tree, Baldock

Description: Branch AGM at the Orange Tree Baldock 8pm - naturally, open to all members.

Loads of great beer, probably enough buffet for 100 people, and a chance to shape the way the branch is run.

There are four main agenda items:-
    1. Officers Reports
    2. Review of the branch accounts
    3. Election of branch Officers for next year
    4. Appointment of auditors for next year

Branch members can put themselves forward for any of the officer positions and the supporting roles required to carry out the branch activities. Your nominations should be forwarded to the secretary, identifying proposer and seconder (who must be branch members).

    AGM Social
After the AGM (which should take less than a hour), there will be a branch social.

At the social will be a presentation by CAMRA Regional Director to Apple Cottage Cider (Baldock) for the best cider from the region.

We will also announce the winners of the branch Beer and Cider pubs of the year.

There will be selection of nibbles and cheese available. These can be washed down with a range of ciders (including some of the Apple Cottage range). Non-cider drinkers of course can choose from the Orange Tree's large range of real ales.
