The presentation of the award was made at the Red Lion on the evening of Friday 4th October, 2019.
Pub regulars, members of the CAMRA North Herts Committee and a visiting group from neighbouring CAMRA branch Herts and Essex Borders saw Andrea Briers, Regional Director, East Anglia for CAMRA, present the award certificate to Ray and Jo Lambe, the Landlord and Landlady.
Jo and Ray prepared some tasty nibbles for all guests and, after the presentation, local band “The Ploughmen” entertained everyone with their eclectic live music performance,
The Red Lion had already been declared North Hertfordshire branch’s Pub of the Year and now goes forward as one of 16 pubs competing to be a national Pub of the Year Finalist.
If you don’t know about the Red Lion, it was the first community owned pub in Britain and remains at the centre of the community of this Hertfordshire village.
Well worth a visit to experience for yourself why the Red Lion deserves those accolades!
