The Cabinet at Reed

Good news for local campaigners as NHDC has turned down the bid to turn the Cabinet into a private house. See the report in the local paper http://www.royston-crow.co.uk/news/reed-campaigners-relief-after-planning-permission-to-turn-the-cabinet-pub-into-a-house-is-refused-1-5119167

The pub remains closed – as it has been for several years – but the Save the Cabinet campaign group have been buoyed by the verdict. Their FaceBook group is https://www.facebook.com/Save-the-Cabinet-at-Reed-1588618694776118/

The Radcliffe in Hitchin

An important meeting for the Save The Radcliffe Action Group tonight (Tuesday) at The Victoria.  Charles Wells have put in a planning application but the application seeks to build flats in some of the pub’s garden & car park space. A number of views have been raised both in favour and against this application so this will be a key milestone in the campaign.

The Station in Knebworth

The campaign group continues to raise funds and also had a recent “pop up pub” event featuring a special brew from Buntingford Brewery. An application – similar to that at the Radcliffe – has also just been made which proposes dwellings be built on part of the pub’s current “footprint”.

  1. STOP PRESS – Charles Wells have just announced that they have purchased the Radcliffe Arms from the current owners. The White Horse in Baldock seems to be the model (Pints, Pots & Pizzas). More info as it emerges!
