The forms have been analysed and the data sifted.
Beer of the Festival
We can announce the Beer of The Festival was Northern Monk’s Eternal, while Siren’s Vermont Tea Party came second. Seven beers tied for third place. We will be organising a trip to the Northern Monk brewery in Leeds in due course. (We will also be visiting Redemption’s brewery – their Trinity won the Stevenage prize back in February – but they are currently finalising their move to a new site.) Watch this space for details of both visits.
Not enough votes were cast to choose a cider or foreign beer of the festival.
Most of those who completed the feedback forms were from Hitchin but there were also visitors from as far away as Doncaster, Norwich and Maidstone! 75% of those who completed the survey were CAMRA members, and 50% were aged 55 or over. This doesn’t correspond completely with the cross section of visitors that we saw, so we will look at how to encourage more people to complete the survey at future festivals.
Most of the comments were complimentary – about the beer range, the venue (including the loos this year) and the overall atmosphere – and even about the staff! There are some comments that we can action (eg: showing brewery information and which beers meet the LocAle criteria, including a site map in the programme) and some that we will review for the future (eg: the mix of food on sale, seating availability). Some comments cancelled each other out (good to have more golden ales vs too many golden ales!) but we will carefully consider what beers we order next time!
Thanks for all of your feedback. If you didn’t complete the survey but do have any feedback, please contact us.
